A cine film of a cross country skiing holiday at Kvitavatn in Norway.
The holiday was organised by Waymark (a specialist in cross country and walking holidays).
At the time (March 1989) the ski centre was owned and managed by Rod Tuck.
The film shows groups out skiing under the supervision of Trevor Howe.
Below is a gallery of photographs from a holiday we had to Norway in 2016. We stayed at the Dalseter Høyfjellshotell in Espedalen. The hotel has a large swimming pool, ski tow, short ski run, miles and miles of cut ski loipe, equipment hire (cross country – track and metal edge, downhill skis, helmets, boots and snow shoes).
The snow was fantastic – the best we have had in several years visiting Norway.
We joined a group from the UK, loosely described as “GB Nordic”. Independently, everyone booked directly with the hotel and British “hosts” were based at the hotel to arrange, daily, a choice of ski programme. There was a simpler, slower and shorter day and a longer more challenging experience. There was also the option of snow shoe expeditions.
The “hosts” were approached by the hotel after the closure of the XCUK holiday company that had been bringing UK clients to Norway for several years.
After prospective GB Nordic clients have booked accommodation with the hotel they then arrange their own flights – lots to choose from – and then there are several options for onward travel to the hotel.
Thoroughly recommended if you enjoy cross country skiing or snow shoeing.
